Anne Hathaway (as Fantine) sings “I Dreamed A Dream” throughout this first trailer, and at first I thought, “Wow, her voice kind of sounds weak” – but if you listen to the whole thing, the emotion does get to you

It just feels like manipulation. And I always dislike Hollywood’s mindset of “We’re in a recession now, so people will be interested in a film about economic hardships.” No, we won’t. It’s STILL depressing. It really looks like Annie is going for that Oscar, though. We’ll see, Annie. We’ll see. My guess is that she puts herself up for Supporting Actress and the studio puts a lot of money behind her, and we’ll get interview after interview about her weight loss and hair loss. Transformation!!! The Academy loves a physical transformation.

“As the ill-fated Fantine in Les Misrables, Anne Hathaway has a keen distinction: She delivers the long-running stage show’s first-act lament “I Dreamed a Dream” in the upcoming, all-star movie version, whose trailer has just been released (see below, and turn up the volume)” – [www.people.com]
“In the trailer, Anne Hathaway coughs out a few slightly weak musical notes before we see a raggedy Hugh Jacksmen (who still looks cleaner than Brad Pitt) as the bread stealer, Russell Crowe as Javert, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Eddie Redmayne as Marius and Samantha Barks as Eponine” – [www.dlisted.com]
“Not since Susan Boyle sang, “I Dreamed A Dream” on Britain’s Got Talent have I heard it sung so beautifully as Anne Hathaway does in the new trailer for Les Misrables” – [www.accidentalsexiness.com]
